I am interested in these motors, but this kind of video is pretty useless.

These are not 20 or 35 hp if someone though so... They are 2 kW and 3.7 kW which is 2.7 hp and 5 hp. Only for gliding slowly at displacement speed.

Im digging the 20hp. Might get one in a while. Petrol engines are not allowed at my closest fishing waters, so this is perfect.

I was hoping the ad was for a 20 and 35 hp outboard. When a sub 100 kg 50 hp outboard is ready, this is indeed of interest.

I seen these on How2Live and these motors are beast, he just bought a new MTI with 450s and he's changing them out for the new 500s just to do a breakfast in NYC and dinner in Miami, it's going to be an epic run, and a true test for the new 500R's.

I'm all for this tech. Great to see Mercury and Yamaha getting into the small electric outboard markets to give Torqeedo and ePropulsion some competition. A ways out, but looking forward to the day when 50, 75 and 115hp class electrics are available for reasonable price, battery weight and range. The Merc Avator will be great for for small planing boats, or non-planing speeds on larger boats such as pontoons, sailboats, or kickers for fishing boats. While it will be some time before my main outboard is electric, simply due to range and cost of a high hp electric motor and the associated battery size needed, I do love electric for trolling in my fishing boat. My current setup on my fishing boat is bow mount trolling motor with two 200Ah LiFePO4 batteries. Already had the bow mount and the cost of the batteries were less than 9.9 kicker I sold. Weight in boat is more balanced and planes better with the 96lbs of batteries in mid-boat compartment rather than 110lb kicker hanging on the back. For range, I have 25 hours of all electric trolling at 2mph or 13 hours at 2.5mph or 9 hours at 3mph. If I want to troll multiple days at 3mph and don't have access to charge up the batteries overnight, I have the option to troll with the main and steer via the bow mount with it on low setting that gives me about about 80 hours of battery. Originally, I was going to replace my ICE kicker with an electric kicker, but after running this bow mount with huge lithium batteries, no need for one.
